This year saw an increase in students taking part in the Inspiring Youth Awards, run by South Yorkshire Police.
Our students took part in both the Level 1 and Level 2 awards, with 3 students attaining a Silver award, 2 a Bronze and other students achieving from level 7 up to level 4. A brilliant effort - well done to all!
The level 2 students worked towards a level 3 CPD qualification, with three of our Year 11 students obtaining 10 credits, equal to a GCSE qualification. Two other students have 3 credits towards the accreditation.
The awards ceremony, held at the Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel on Friday 20th January, was attended by the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire Dr Julie MacDonald, the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire Andrew Coombs, South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Dr Alan Billings and Baron David Blunkett.
The Academy’s Sofia Sajid, who won the award for her Level 1 folder last year, made an inspirational speech about how completing the Level 1 and 2 awards had changed her life. David Blunkett praised her in his speech, stating how inspirational she was.
Our very own Mrs Ashforth, LRC Manager was awarded a Chief Constable’s Commendation for services to Inspiring Youth
The Inspiring Youth Awards are run by volunteers from South Yorkshire Police and engages teenagers to work on projects, improve their self-esteem and build on their life skills.
