Students and staff at Sheffield Park Academy are today celebrating their GCSE results, with a number of pupils scoring highly against the new measures for English and maths.
This year, English and maths grades were awarded a numeric value, with 9 being the new top grade, representing the very best of performance.
One pupil, Lashmy Habib, has the distinction of achieving the new top grade 9, equivalent to a ‘double A*,’ in both maths and English, placing her in the top 3% nationally for both subjects. Lashmy has also achieved A* grades in the three sciences and geography, as well as A grades in French and computing.
Other notable individual successes include:
- Yasmin Begum, Jeff Emurerhi, Suhaanah Naz, Chloe Needham and Matthew Tomlinson, who all achieved the new top grade 9 in maths, as well as A* and A grades in their other subjects
- Nawras Salha, who achieved the new top grade 9 in English as well as a grade 8 in maths, A* grades in science and geography and A grades in statistics and French
- Year 8 pupils Becki Zhu and Cindy Li, who achieved A*s in Chinese
Craig Dillon, Executive Principal of Sheffield Park Academy, said:
“These results are a real credit to our students and staff, who have worked incredibly hard together throughout the year and I congratulate them all on their achievements. There are some particularly strong individual performances and it is encouraging to see so many of our students achieving the new top ‘9’ grade. I am delighted that so many students have chosen to stay on at our growing Sixth Form, which last week enjoyed such strong results.”
