"I am so proud of all the students and staff that have gone above and beyond to raise such a phenomenal amount."
Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity has received its single biggest donation from a school, care of Sheffield Park Academy.
The Beaumont Road North based school has raised an incredible £15,526.50 for the charity, through a combination of activities including non-uniform days, bake sales and most recently, a sponsored skydive by Executive Principal Mr Dillon, Mr Wainwright and Mr Hannan.
The school also raises funds through a dedicated tuck shop, run once a week by Year 11 students Zahra, Saba, Ivelina and Uzma.
As a ‘thank you’ and to give the girl’s a better appreciation of what their efforts help to fund, Weston Park’s Jade Hearsum invited them to the hospital for a tour of the facilities.
Commented Jade:
I am so proud of all the students and staff that have gone above and beyond to raise such a phenomenal amount. Sheffield Park Academy is a fantastic example of how hard work, determination and working together can really make an impact. It is the most raised ever from a school in the history of the charity and the money will make such a huge difference to so many patients and their families. Thank you all so much.
Added the Academy’s Mr Dillon:
As part of our commitment to provide our students with an Education with Character, we work very closely with the local community, actively seeking to help those less fortunate than ourselves, whilst helping instill a sense of care and compassion in all of our students. Weston Park is a charity that is particularly close to our hearts and we are delighted to be able to support the amazing work that it does.
