An Animal Hero! That’s super fundraiser Storm Burgess, whose efforts to help her four legged friends have earned her another national accolade.
Storm, who has herself had to overcome serious illness, has raised over £12,500 for 16 animal charities, with the main beneficiary being the Sheffield Cat Shelter.
Her fundraising efforts saw her receive the International Fund for Animal Welfare’s ‘Young Fundraiser of the Year Award’ last year and in December, the Sheffield Cat Shelter and Morrisons threw a surprise party to thank her for her efforts.
Now Storm can add the title of ‘Young Animal Hero of the Year’ to her impressive list, with the 12 year-old receiving her prize at a star-studded event held in London on the 7th September, where she met famous fellow animal lovers including Paul O’Grady and Amanda Holden.
Organised by the Daily Mirror in conjunction with the RSPCA, the Animal Hero Awards recognise and celebrate the most inspiring examples of bravery, dedication and resilience in the animal world.
Sheffield Park Academy’s Executive Principal Craig Dillon said:
“Storm is a remarkable individual and this latest award is well deserved recognition for her amazing and selfless efforts. We are all incredibly proud of her.”
