Students get a taste of the future with the help of the business sector
Students from three Yorkshire academies were given a taste of the future when they met with national and local business for a special ‘Aspirations Day’ event.
Staged by Sheffield Park Academy at its Beaumont Road North site on Friday 20th January, the event helped showcase to students the exciting opportunities on offer when they leave school, with those attending taking part in a variety of activities and workshops with representatives from the business sector, as well as Russell Group universities.
Year 10 and 11 students from Sheffield Park and its fellow United Learning academies Sheffield Springs Academy and Barnsley Academy discussed future opportunities, both in higher education and the world of work, with the following organisations:

"This is now the third year that we have run this event and thanks to the excellent attendance and feedback, we intend to make it an annual fixture. It’s certainly rewarding to see the students and colleagues from the business and higher education sectors really engaging and exploring the opportunities that are out there.”
Added South Yorkshire’s High Sheriff, Dr Julie MacDonald, who also attended the event:
“I really enjoyed my visit to Sheffield Park Academy’s Aspirations Day. I met some amazing and inspirational teachers and even more amazing students.”
